Dear Subscriber

ALL WELCOME ON HOUND EXERCISE

Due to unforeseen circumstances we felt it necessary to keep you in the picture?

After such a lovely early morning meet. by kind permission of Newton and Emma Wright. (Many thanks for the lovely bacon butties)

We were devastated to hear the news that Foot & Mouth had returned once more. It is appalling: our sympathy goes out to the Rockwood Farmers, at this very distressing time

Hunting restrictions were re-introduced immediately. However the situation is as follows. We are allowed to hound exercise on the roads and tracks. This will be taking place on Wednesdays and Saturdays until further notice. Please contact Christine Gallagher on her mobile 07720 465 980 for details.

For those who haven't paid their subscriptions (fully compounded) a charge of £10 will be made. A very enjoyable means of keeping your horse fit and contributes to the ever rising cost of maintaining the hounds and kennels.

We are hoping to be back in action 30days after the last outbreak. We will endeavor to get a revised meet card out as soon as we have got the go ahead from DEFRA. As you all know expenses go on and for the Rockwood to succeed in these difficult times, we need to ask you all to pay your subscription in full before November. Expenses are the same whether we are hunting or not.

Obituaries

Sadly This summer we lost three long standing members Jimmy Mellor of Woodnook. Who taught many of the older hunt members to ride.

Neville Hemsley of Victoria, an ex committee member also latterly a member of the Readyfield Blood Hounds.

Miss Mary Norton. Of Honley. Well remembered by the older members on her horse Sam.

Members and committee of the hunt extend their condolences to all the Families.

Hunter Trial Report

I am sure most of you know that the Hunter Trial was last Sunday at Pennine Equine by kind permission of Tue Farming.

We would also like to thank Alan Downs for his invaluable knowledge and expertise in making a wonderful day a great success. Every fence and the First Aid and the marquee were sponsored by local businesses and the main arena and the rosettes and prizes were sponsored by JCB. We are very grateful for their generosity. We are very grateful for all the helpers on the day especially the jump stewards, some of whom were asked at the last minute. We collected a portion of the deposit money for the bibs and we are going to make a generous donation to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a much needed service which we have used several times in the past. We had many favourable comments about the course and we made a good amount for Hunt funds
